July 15, 7:00 PM | Opening of the “From Light Waves to Laser Beams” Exhibition at the Energy and Technology Museum
On July 15 at 7:00 PM, a new interactive exhibition dedicated to photonics and laser technologies will open at the Energy and Technology Museum!
We invite you to discover how the technologies of the future are created and to try out games and simulations specially developed for this exhibition.
Did you know that a perfectly tuned laser beam can cool atoms to temperatures even lower than those found in outer space?
For many years, Lithuania has been shaping the future of laser technologies worldwide, yet this field still holds many secrets for the general public. It’s time to discover them!
PROGRAMME:
19:00 | Grand Opening and Laser Show
The evening will begin with an impressive light performance by “Optronika” and a short welcome address from the exhibition organisers.
19:30 | Lecture “Horizons of Laser Applications”
Dr Balys Momgaudis will give an engaging and accessible introduction to how scientists control powerful light beams, the challenges faced in laser laboratories, and how these technologies are transforming our everyday lives and industry.
19:45–20:30 | Exhibition Visit and Experiments
The exhibition doors open! Visitors will be invited to explore interactive games and take part in their first attempts at controlling lasers. The programme will also include guided “Photonics Kit” workshops, where participants will become researchers themselves – manipulating light beams, assembling working optical devices, and discovering how complex technologies can become a fascinating and hands-on world of exploration.
The exhibition opening event and all activities are free of charge.
Discover the lasers that the world admires and explore Lithuania – the country that creates them.
The event is under the patronage of the Vilnius City Municipality.
