Exhibition “Astronomer Vytautas Pranciškus Straižys (1936-2021), One Who Tackled the Riddles of the Stars”

Vilnius University’s Observatory of Ideas presents an outdoor exhibition dedicated to the distinguished Lithuanian astronomer Vytautas Pranciškus Straižys (1936–2021)!

This year, as we commemorate the 90th anniversary of V. Straižys’ birth, Vilnius University Museum invites you to visit the exhibition “Astronomer Vytautas Pranciškus Straižys (1936-2021), One Who Tackled the Riddles of the Stars”, opening on September 19.

The exhibition explores the renowned scientist’s childhood, his university years, and his work and research at the Vilnius University Observatory. We invite you to learn more about the unique Vilnius photometric system, satellite observation, and the prevalence of unidentified flying objects in Soviet-era Lithuania. Be sure to also stop by the observatory pavilion, where you can view the astronomer’s personal belongings.

Location: VU Idėjų observatorijos parkas (M. K. Čiurlionio g. 29).
The exhibition is open to visitors from Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
