Short concerts of the Vilnius carillon

The carillon in the tower of the Church of St. Philip and St. James will host its short concerts for the eighth year in a row. From May to October, free 15-minute performances will take place twice daily – at 13:00 and 19:15 – delighting residents of Vilnius and visitors alike.

The Vilnius carillon, operated by the Dominican friars, has become an important part of the city’s soundscape, inviting people to pause and experience time differently through music.

A new feature this year is that on Saturdays and Sundays at 13:00, concerts will be dedicated to the theme of love. They will feature specially selected classical music pieces about love, ranging from gentle, lyrical melodies to well-known musical themes.

The program is complemented by the project “With Love Every Hour”, in which the city clock plays short themed melodies about love every hour from 9:00 to 21:00, turning timekeeping into a musical experience.

As the organizer Jurgis Pauliukas notes, the idea is to transform the city clock from a mechanical signal into a musical one – creating a unique acoustic identity for Vilnius. In this tower there is no traditional clock face: you don’t see the time, you hear it.

The concerts are best heard in the church courtyard, Lukiškių aikštė, and surrounding streets.
