How can we make people see, feel, uncover time in its nakedness, time as it passes, give it shape, capture it in its very movement?
This is the challenge that Alexis Rouvre has taken up with his “circus of objects”. A juggler of time, rather than gravity, he finds his inspiration in the astrophysicist Carlo Rovelli: “Bodies move naturally where time passes more slowly”.
An alchemist of the vanitas, he uses simple objects – knitting, chain, stone – to create a densely poetic work that opens onto the other side of the moment that passes, lasts for nothing, and sustains everything.
