The Vilnius City Municipality and “Neakivaizdinis Vilnius” invite you to join the autumn hike “30 km Around the Neris”!
How many times have you walked along the Neris in the city centre, crossed the White Bridge or stopped by the riverbank? But have you ever wondered what lies just beyond the city’s familiar routes?
The Neris has been part of Vilnius for centuries. It has witnessed the city’s growth, the times of dukes and merchants, the construction of the first bridges, floods, industrial development and changing riverbanks. Once a boundary separating the city, today the river is one of the most important threads connecting Vilnius – a place where history, nature and modern urban life meet.
On September 19, we invite you to experience this story on foot. The route will take you along both familiar and lesser-known sections of the Neris riverbank – through the city centre, across bridges, through green spaces and past places you may never notice in the rush of everyday life.
It is an opportunity to get active, spend time together and see Vilnius from a different perspective – following the river that is an essential part of the city’s identity.
The “30 km Around the Neris” route will not end on September 19. The Neris30km.lt platform will become a permanent resource where you can find the full 30 km route and explore it independently at any time.
It will offer more than just a route map. Along the way, you will be able to discover landmarks and interesting places around the Neris, learn their stories, explore both sides of the river and find out how the Neris has changed together with the city.
So, the September 19 hike is only the beginning. Later, Neris30km.lt will invite you to discover Vilnius around the Neris at your own pace.
The hike is free, but advance registration is required.
You can take part with family and friends or set off on your own. Participants who complete the route will receive sustainable commemorative medals at the finish.
As the event approaches, the routes will also be available in the Walk15 app.
Bring comfortable shoes, drinking water and a good mood – and see you by the Neris!
