GAIL ARCHER (organ, USA)
A performer who’s built an impressive international musical career, organist at the Vassar College, head of the music programme at the Columbia University affiliate Barnard College, and founder of the women organists network Musforum. This indefatigable, unbelievably charming and charismatic persona is Gail Archer.
Held in especially high esteem for her conceptual concert programmes, with which she draws attention to important themes and musical history contexts, this time, aside from monumental Baroque opuses and romantic music, the performer is set to explore an unexpected trajectory – Bulgarian composers’ works that are rarely heard in our concert halls.
The music of Radosveta Hurkova, Bozhidar Abrashev and Evgeny Tcheshmedjiev brings folklore-inspired, contemporary and surprising aspects into her programme. Its culmination is Jean Demessieaux’s impressive Te Deum, which reveals the whole spectrum of the power of the organ.
Take part in the discovery of unexpected organ music horizons with Gail Archer.
Programme features music by Johann Sebastian Bach, Robert Schumann, Radosveta Hurkova and others
