Spanish Colours – Contemporary Dialogues

The **Adomas Mickevičius Public Library of Vilnius County** invites you to a concert by guitarist **Saulius Jegelevičius** and pianist **Giedrė Gabnytė**, **“Spanish Colours – Contemporary Dialogues”**, an evening where subtle lyricism, southern temperament, and the captivating sound of the classical guitar come together.

The programme will take listeners on a musical journey from contemporary meditation to Spanish passion. Throughout the evening, serenity and momentum, dreamlike contemplation and expressive emotional intensity will intertwine, revealing the wide-ranging possibilities of the guitar and piano duo.

The first part of the concert will feature **“Hypnosis”**, a cycle by contemporary American composer **Gary Schocker**. This five-movement work creates a distinctive sound world in which subtle nuances of timbre, the slow pulse of musical thought, and a hypnotic atmosphere invite listeners to immerse themselves in a world of inner states and emotions.

The second part of the evening will be devoted to one of the most celebrated works for guitar of the 20th century – **Joaquín Rodrigo’s “Concierto de Aranjuez”**. Its melodies evoke the beauty of Spanish gardens, love, nostalgia, and longing. A special place is held by the famous **Adagio**, which has become one of the most recognisable and deeply moving works in the guitar repertoire.

Throughout the evening, the guitar and piano duo will reveal a broad emotional spectrum – from delicate lyricism and contemplation to passionate Spanish rhythms and dramatic intensity.

**Giedrė Gabnytė** is a prize-winner of international competitions and a graduate of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, where she studied in the class of Prof. Halina Radvilaitė. She continued her studies at the Mozarteum in Salzburg in the class of Prof. A. Lozonczy and took part in masterclasses in Germany, Finland, and Austria. She performs actively in Lithuania and abroad, and has appeared with the Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, the Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra, and the M. K. Čiurlionis String Quartet, as well as giving concerts in numerous European countries.

**Saulius Jegelevičius** is a guitarist, vocalist, songwriter, and educator with more than ten years of teaching experience. He studied at Falmouth University in the United Kingdom and at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, and in 2022 completed a graduate traineeship at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. He has released three albums of original music, writes songs, performs in concert, and is actively engaged in music education.
