Jonas Kareivis

A musical performance for children based on Lithuanian and non-Lithuanian folk tales.

First seen by audiences in 1993, winning their hearts and becoming a legend, the performance Jonas the Soldier returns to the Keistuoliai Theatre in a brand-new production!

Once upon a time there lived Jonas. Not just any Jonas—Jonas the Soldier.

He set out into the world not in search of happiness, but to find a lost Princess. And along the way, anything can happen… Adventures, weddings, and the merriest celebrations filled with songs and dances.

All of this—and more—can be found in the Keistuoliai Theatre’s Jonas the Soldier, inspired by Lithuanian and non-Lithuanian folk tales, legends, songs, and whispered stories. In Jonas the Soldier’s world, the strangest things occur: horses turn into people, mountains into mountaineers; tears fall from joy, and in times of trouble, a song comes to the rescue.

If you are feeling sad or afraid of misfortune, come to us—we’ll sing together.
