XVI International St. James Festival Concert “A Prayer Within”

The concert A Prayer Within continues the long-standing partnership between the St. James Festival and Polish performers. Returning to Vilnius once again are the “Astrolabium” Choir, founded in 1999, a winner of international competitions and a nominee for Poland’s prestigious Fryderyk Music Award, and the Pomeranian Philharmonic’s chamber ensemble Capella Bydgostiensis, renowned for its exceptional musicianship and extensive repertoire.

This cultural bridge is strengthened by a strong tradition of mutual collaboration – the State Choir “Vilnius” has performed in return engagements in Toruń and at the Pomeranian Philharmonic. The evening’s conductor, musicologist and founder of the “Astrolabium” Choir Kinga Litowska, is known for her particular attention to vocal intonation, clarity of sound, and the promotion of contemporary sacred music.

In this programme, the performers, together with soprano Ingrida Gapova, present sacred works by contemporary Polish and British composers.

The concert will feature Zuzanna Koziej’s Stabat Mater, Aleksandra Brejza’s Dies Irae and Lacrimosa, as well as Matthew Coleridge’s highly acclaimed Requiem, which stands out for its melodic richness and luminous spiritual serenity.
