Play “Riešutų duona”

The play “Riešutų duona” (translated as “Nut Bread”), based on Saulius Šaltenis’ novella, tells the story of Andrius Šatas, a young man living in a small Lithuanian town during the mid-20th century, and his beloved Liuka. Their bright love story is overshadowed by the ongoing conflicts between the Šatas and Kaminskas families. This performance at the Keistuolių Theatre brings a breath of fresh air, filled with the music of “The Beatles” and the footsteps of childhood fading away.

The play speaks to young people living in a constantly changing, somewhat cynical environment that denies pure love. In such a world, sometimes all it takes is a fleeting moment to say, “I am not alone.”
