A BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO LIFE FOR LIVING BEINGS | La Mula (Catalonia)

In the performance for children “A Beginner’s Guide to Life for Living Beings”, Catalan visual theatre company “La Mula” transforms the stage into a space for visual and philosophical play, where the main character becomes the text: it speaks to us, listens to us, manipulates us… and reveals how words shape our thinking, the ways we love, power relations and, ultimately, existence itself.

Using humour and a theatrical language enriched by original visual solutions, the performance invites audiences to explore both the power and fragility of language, encouraging us to ask what role we ourselves play in the stories that surround us.

As its main dramaturgical device, “La Mula” employs sharp reflection on the power of words. The vibrant, ironic and visually striking scenography transforms the performance into a living mechanism that goes beyond the boundaries of traditional theatre. With an uneasy smile, it reminds us that there is always a text between us and reality.
