Despite facing prejudice and discrimination as an Ainu woman, Chiri devoted her life to safeguarding Ainu culture for future generations. She died at the age of just 19, yet her book “Ainu Shin’yo Shu”—the first written collection and Japanese translation of Ainu oral folklore—captured the spirit of her people and left a lasting impression on readers around the world.
