Created especially for Culture Night 2026, Inhale/Exhale is an interdisciplinary live performance by flautist Dominyka Šeibok that combines free improvisation, movement, and audience participation. The work explores vulnerability, presence, and spontaneous human connection through sound and physical expression.
The performance investigates what happens when an individual’s inner states become a shared collective experience. Using flute, movement, improvisation, and audience interaction, the artist navigates between vulnerability and control, intimacy and exposure under the gaze of observers.
The piece unfolds within a sonic landscape shaped by a pre-recorded DJ set. Fragmented rhythms, textures, environmental sounds, and ambient layers serve both as a dialogue partner and a source of resistance to the live flute improvisation. No moment of the performance is fully predetermined: the audience’s presence, movement, reactions, and energy subtly influence its direction, making each presentation unique.
Here, the flute is understood not only as a musical instrument but also as an extension of breath, memory, tension, and instinct. Sound becomes not a composition but a conversation—a living process of listening, responding, interrupting, disappearing, and reconnecting.
