Footprints in Motion: DISPLAY | Nuua Company

The latest performance by Finnish company Nuua Company, DISPLAY, brings together the worlds of visual art and contemporary circus.

The concept is simple yet captivating: an art exhibition is created live on stage. In the hands of two jugglers, both the arrangement of artworks and the mechanisms used to display them become part of the performance. These elements create light, poetic and sometimes humorous situations that gradually come together to form an exhibition. The performance is accompanied by live music by Konsta Leinonen, and the process culminates in an exhibition that opens its doors to the audience.

The creative process is based on material-driven and embodied research – an intuitive exploration in which the simple physical form of each object contributes to the aesthetics and dramaturgy of the performance. Every movement, touch and gesture creates a subtle dialogue between the body and matter.

Bringing the refined and distinctive interplay between objects and bodies characteristic of Nuua Company into the world of visual art, DISPLAY offers a different way of experiencing art. The performance is not presented as a finished image, form or statement, but as an ever-changing process where beauty, uncertainty and a touch of absurd humour coexist.

The performance opens unexpected spaces for the imagination. Surprising interactions between objects and bodies stimulate curiosity and invite audiences to rethink their own relationship with movement and art.

The work is designed for experiences in theatres, museums and open indoor spaces.
