Sounds Good Vilnius | The Cure

For the very first time the legendary British band The Cure is set to make a long-awaited live performance in Lithuania. The show on August 7th in Vilnius, Kalnų park mark a significant moment for the fans, bringing one of alternative music’s most influential act to the capital of Lithuania. The Cure’s concert in Lithuania is part of the “Sounds Good Vilnius” music festival, taking place this August in Kalnų Park.

The Cure’s concert in Vilnius will be opened by two Lithuanian music stars – Alina Orlova and the band Katarsis, both chosen by The Cure frontman Robert Smith. His selection also delighted the concert organizers, who say they are pleased to invite music gourmets to an exceptional live music evening in a unique Vilnius location. Well known and intriguing Lithuanian alternative music creators, together with a two‑hour programme spanning five decades of The Cure’s work, promise an extraordinary Friday night for the audience on August 7.

The Cure is one of the most celebrated and enduring bands in contemporary music history. Since their formation in 1978, they have released a series of critically acclaimed albums and become synonymous with innovation in alternative and gothic rock. With a career spanning nearly five decades, their influence continues to resonate across generations of artists and fans alike.

Alina Orlova is one of the most distinctive and striking creators in Lithuanian alternative music, known for her poetic language and a dreamlike, unmistakable voice that feels like a story echoing from afar. Her music carries hints of modernised folklore and sung poetry, with arrangements that at times take on a cabaret-like quality, valuing silence as much as sound and luring the listener closer with a ghostly subtlety.

The alternative rock band Katarsis experiments with post‑punk, indie and other musical styles. In 2024, the band released the EP Dausos, followed in January 2026 by their first full‑length album Žiedlapis tau. In 2025, Katarsis represented Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Tavo akys. Since then, they have toured Europe several times and are currently working on new music while planning more performances both in Lithuania and abroad.

The upcoming concert in Vilnius promises to deliver an expansive setlist spanning the band’s illustrious catalogue. Known for their immersive live shows, The Cure continue to captivate audiences worldwide with performances that blend nostalgia and emotional intensity.
