SACRED MUSIC HOURS. BETWEEN HEAVEN AND EARTH

KAROLINA JUODELYTĖ
(organ, Germany/Lithuania)

From a walk through Čiurlionis’ forest to a flight into Zimmer’s Interstellar cosmos. All of this in one concert with Karolina Juodelytė.

The internationally renowned performer stands out not just for her technical mastery but also her special relationship with a piece of music – her ability to reach into its depths through both emotions and by logical analysis.

Regularly appearing in concerts all over Europe, she has played with the Lithuanian Chamber, Berlin Radio Symphony and Dresden Philharmonic orchestras, and today Juodelytė is continuing her activities in Berlin as the main organist in the Bernhard Lichtenberg parish and as a lecturer in the art of organ performance.

The programme to be played in Vilnius was born of the performer’s personal relationship with different musical worlds and attempts at bringing them together: “For me, Čiurlionis’ ‘In the Forest’ is not just a walk through nature – his work always has something intangible, almost cosmic. That’s why it’s so much like the world of Zimmer’s Interstellar – both works are about space that is both here, and somewhere further away”, says the musician.

And for one evening, this space will open up in the lofty heights of St Casimir’s Church.

Programme features music by Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, Vidmantas Bartulis, Hans Zimmer and others
