The Sounding M. K. Čiurlionis Vilnius | ROKAS VALUNTONIS

In the summer, the ongoing concert series “The Sounding Čiurlionis Vilnius” returns to the M. K. Čiurlionis House.

During his performances, R. Valuntonis is described as someone who can ignite in listeners not just sympathy, but a deep, enthusiastic admiration — as noted by journalist Laura Slepkovaitė, author of the LRT Radio program “Muzikinis pastišas.”

Rokas is an active performer in major concert halls across Europe, the United Kingdom, Asia, South America, and Lithuania. He currently lives in London, where since 2017 he has collaborated with the “City Music Foundation” artist agency. Highly regarded by music critics, he is frequently invited to international festivals, where he performs solo recitals and collaborates with orchestras and chamber ensembles.

He has performed with orchestras including the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, Málaga Symphony Orchestra, Aachen Chamber Orchestra, Lithuanian National Chamber Orchestra, St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra, Lund Symphony Orchestra, and Panevėžys Chamber Orchestra, working with conductors such as Juozas Domarkas, Lutz Köhler, Donatas Katkus, Olivier Grangean, Modestas Barkauskas, Roger Andersson, and Vidmantas Kapučinskas.

Rokas has received top awards in more than 20 international piano competitions in Lithuania, Italy, Sweden, Belgium, Russia, Ukraine, the Netherlands, and Germany. Among the most important are 1st Prize at the Nordic Piano Competition in Malmö, 2nd Prize at the International M. K. Čiurlionis Piano Competition in Vilnius, and 1st Prize at the Società Umanitaria Music Competition in Milan.

He has been awarded the prestigious Queen Morta Prize and received acknowledgements from Lithuanian Presidents Valdas Adamkus and Dalia Grybauskaitė for his achievements in music. In 2020, he was awarded the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture Young Artist Prize.
