Downtown Piano Lab presents a long-awaited musical surprise for jazz lovers and invites you to a special encounter with Viktorija Gečytė and Vytautas Straižys!

Viktorija Gečytė is a renowned Lithuanian jazz star whose unique vocal timbre and original work have garnered acclaim from audiences and critics alike, both in Europe and across the Atlantic.

Refined phrasing, a distinctive vocal sound, infectious swing, and the full spectrum of jazz colors are all hallmarks of Viktorija’s performances and original compositions.

Based in France, the vocalist not only highlights New York jazz traditions in her performances but also crafts exceptional improvisations that invite listeners on an emotionally charged vocal journey—one that weaves together diverse cultural motifs and showcases true jazz mastery.

This time, Viktorija Gečytė’s voice will resonate alongside the virtuoso pianist Vytautas Straižys! Having studied music at the M.K. Čiurlionis Conservatory and the Royal Conservatory in the Netherlands, Vytautas is a versatile performer, composer, and keyboard master capable of captivating audiences with rich, harmonically dense textures.

His ability to blend stylistic elements from a wide range of genres within his professional improvisations is a defining characteristic of his work as both a composer and a performer. Drawing inspiration from artists ranging from Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, and Herbie Hancock to Sergei Rachmaninoff and Claude Debussy, V. Straižys offers a broad musical palette that appeals even to the most discerning music—and especially jazz—connoisseurs.
