Sound Plates: Mantas Joneikis

We’re back! Having changed our outfits, we’re rushing to meet up, whilst Mantas Joneikis – known simply as Mantas Joneikis – spins up a autumnal mix of sounds. Mantas is one of the songwriters for the band ‘Garbanotas’ and the band’s guitarist. He also plays with Monika Liu, Kabloonak and Lukas Pilkauskas, and has a very secret, lovely solo project called Whalewave. His behind-the-scenes hobbies include collecting vinyl records, and it’s from these that Mantas promises to play. By the way, the food choice has already been decided. We’ll be baking apple tarts! (And everything else that goes well before dessert.)

Is it rude to eat whilst listening to music? Where better to conduct this experiment than at Miesto laboratorija?

‘Sound Plates’ is a series of events where we invite you to savour food with music in your ears and play with a bite in your mouth. What will it be like? We invite musicians, artists and music lovers of all stripes to share their music, whilst during the evening the laboratory’s chefs serve up the performers’ favourite dish or their own take on it. Whatever it may be – pasta with nettles or a gluten-free crêpe – we’ll try to find a harmony and not choke whilst humming with our mouths full.
