PATHS TO FREEDOM | POLISH MUSIC CONCERT
The Polish music concert “Paths to Freedom”, featuring both renowned and acclaimed performers as well as young vocal talents, will present a particularly fascinating programme of music by Polish composers.
The concert programme will include well-known and less frequently performed works for soloists and duets, as well as virtuosic piano pieces revealing the diversity of musical forms, styles, and means of expression.
The vocal programme, distinguished by an interesting combination of different voices, will feature songs by Jan Stefani, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Fryderyk Chopin, Stanisław Moniuszko, Mieczysław Karłowicz, and Karol Szymanowski, as well as arias from Polish operas. Well-known patriotic works will also be performed, and the audience will be invited to sing along.
An additional highlight of the concert programme will be a selection of duets from Zygmunt Noskowski’s Songbook for Children (Śpiewnik dla dzieci, 1890), created to the words of Maria Konopnicka and based on Polish folk dance motifs. Melodic, sincere, and simple, these works are an important lesson in patriotism and a testament to the spiritual strength that accompanied the struggle for freedom and independence, passed on to future generations.
