Rhythms of Brazil

We invite you to a rhythm masterclass led by our guest from Brazil – Luz do Sol.

Luz do Sol is a Brazilian performer and multi-instrumentalist whose music conveys the soul of his homeland — the spirit of the Amazon rainforest, the rhythm of the drum and the warmth of the tropical sun. At the Vilnius Capoeira Club, he will lead a comprehensive rhythm masterclass for those interested in Afro-Brazilian music and culture.

Like everyone in Brazil, Luz do Sol has been immersed in capoeira culture since childhood. After becoming a professional musician, he returned back to his roots. He now lives in Bali, traveling to Brazil and Europe, sharing the musical and cultural heritage of his homeland.

Following the rhythm masterclass, participants can look forward to a roda – the most important part of capoeira – a duel between fighters accompanied by live music.

Participants must bring their own drums. Please inform the organisers if you do not have your own drum.

Entry fee: €35; €30 for members of the Vilnius Capoeira Club. Children receive a 50 per cent discount, but must bring their own drum of any kind.
