MOSAIC OF DANCES Karolina Beinarytė-Palekauskienė (violin) Daiva Stulgytė-Povilaitienė (piano)

The NESSUN DORMA Night Concert Marathon invites audiences to Mosaic of Dances, an evening of chamber music featuring violinist Karolina Beinarytė-Palekauskienė and pianist Daiva Stulgytė-Povilaitienė. This colourful programme takes listeners on a musical journey across countries, centuries and dance traditions.

The programme brings together composers from different eras – from Johann Sebastian Bach and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart to Ástor Piazzolla. Audiences will encounter elegant minuets and waltzes, the rhythms of Slavic dances, the dramatic energy of Camille Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre, the melancholy beauty of Jean Sibelius’ Valse triste, works by Lithuanian composers Balys Dvarionas and Vytautas Klova, and the passionate world of Piazzolla’s tango.

Each piece reveals a different face of dance – from the refined elegance of aristocratic salons to the vitality of folk traditions, from romantic nostalgia to fiery passion and dramatic intensity. Throughout the evening, dance becomes more than movement: it becomes emotion, storytelling and a reflection of the human spirit.

Since 2003, Karolina Beinarytė-Palekauskienė has served as first violinist of the Kaunas String Quartet, performing extensively in Lithuania and abroad. Together with the quartet, she has appeared in hundreds of concerts across Europe and South America, participated in major festivals, recorded several albums and received significant awards for contributions to Lithuanian musical culture.

Daiva Stulgytė-Povilaitienė is a long-standing accompanist and assistant lecturer at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and Head of the Chamber Ensemble Department at the Juozas Naujalis Music Gymnasium in Kaunas. An active chamber musician, she has performed widely in Lithuania and internationally, collaborating with distinguished soloists, chamber ensembles and choirs.

The artistic partnership of these two musicians is rooted in a shared love of chamber music and lyrical expression. Mosaic of Dances offers an elegant and emotionally rich programme in which diverse musical traditions, dance rhythms and timeless melodies come together in a vibrant musical tapestry.

Following the concert, audiences are invited to remain for the Media Opera ČIURLIONIS: I SEE MUSIC – a unique theatrical concept created by composer Audronė Žigaitytė. Inspired by the visionary world of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, it combines music, visual art, animation and digital media in a journey where music becomes vision and vision becomes music.
