Visitors of “Culture Night” are invited to discover a unique space born from the collaboration between the Vilnius Academy of Arts (VDA) and the festival. This sculptural meeting installation is a contemporary interpretation inspired by M. K. Čiurlionis’ painting “Fairy Tale of Kings.” The rhythm of vertical wooden modules, the shifting play of light and shadow, and the sacred composition bring the painting’s mystical atmosphere into the urban environment, creating a distinctive visual “pulse”.
The object consists of two semi-circular walls forming an intimate space, partially separated from the city’s hustle and bustle. It is a place intended not only for visual experience but also for live dialogue – an opportunity to pause, sit down, and experience nighttime Vilnius at a slower pace. The installation functions as a sculptural landmark, inviting passers-by to become part of the narrative and to identify with the city’s cultural identity.
The project was developed by third-year students of the VDA Department of Design: Leonas Šėferis, Elinga Mockutė, Radasta Urbanavičiūtė, Greta Polučanskaitė, and Mantas Baužys. Supervisor – lecturer Inesa Malafei. This work is an attempt to bring new cultural content into Vilnius public spaces, fostering community and a deeper connection with artistic heritage
