In January last year, Chris Ruebens and Mindaugas Stumbras presented their new album and sheet music publication Strung Out at the Music Magic Club, and this year the guitarists return with a guitar duo concert in which classical, jazz, and world music intonations intertwine.
The concert “Strung Out” features original compositions as well as pieces specially adapted for the duo, inspired by Spanish, Brazilian, French, and classical music sounds. In their program, tradition and modernity subtly blend, conveyed with mastery and creativity, revealing both the technical nuances of the guitar’s possibilities and its artistic expression.
As the musicians say, in their joint project they “aim not only to experiment, but also to enrich the Lithuanian music scene with a new approach to guitar art, while creating a unique experience for both music lovers and fans.”
Mindaugas Stumbras is a jazz guitarist who performs and creates both jazz and contemporary music. He is one of the most promising Lithuanian jazz performers, actively participating in Lithuanian and international jazz scenes. In recent years, Mindaugas has performed in many European countries, played in well-known jazz clubs, and participated in international jazz festivals. He is a member of recognized collectives such as “Vilnius Jazz Young Power” and “Kaunas Jazz Competition”. He also became a laureate of the Lithuanian guitar competition “Guitar Frenzy”, and his compositions were included in the Lithuanian Jazz Federation’s published collection “Jazz from Lithuania”. In 2022, Mindaugas, together with his group, was awarded the Young Creator Prize of the Lithuanian Ministry of Culture for his contribution to music.
The creative work of guitarist, composer, and vocalist Chris Ruebens combines classical, jazz, and world music, creating a unique and bold sound. Performing with the Baltic Guitar Quartet and the Chris Ruebens Ensemble, the guitarist has toured across Europe and Asia. Chris’s compositions have won international competitions and are performed, arranged, and recorded by internationally recognized artists. Originally from Belgium, the musician now calls Lithuania his home.
