Cellist Glebas Pyšniakas and pianist Rokas Zubovas invite audiences on a spiritual journey through the world of the Litvaks with their concert program “Scenes from Shtetl Life.”
The program features works for cello and piano by Litvak composers whose lives and careers took them to different parts of the world. Their music blends echoes of Eastern European Jewish culture, nostalgia for their homeland, and influences from the diverse cultures they encountered. Each piece tells a unique story of everyday life, celebration, longing, and hope.
Through the expressive dialogue between cello and piano, the concert captures both intimate emotions and the vibrant spirit of shtetl communities, offering a rich exploration of Litvak cultural heritage.
The program includes works and arrangements by Joseph Achron, Anatolijus Šenderovas, Philip Glass, Faustas Latėnas, Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, George Gershwin, and Jascha Heifetz.
