The Piano Music Night “Black and White” has been part of Vilnius’s cultural life since 2009, when LMTA professor and renowned pianist Petras Geniušas presented a memorable recital dedicated to the music of Ludwig van Beethoven during the Culture Night festival in Lukiškės Square.

Since 2011, the project has also featured young pianists—the most talented students and graduates of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre—whose performances now form the core of the marathon program.

A leading institution with deep traditions in piano performance, the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre presents this unique two-part project as part of the Culture Night program. The event showcases outstanding young pianists and laureates of international competitions, who will perform some of the most beautiful piano works from the Romantic and Impressionist eras.

At midnight, Petras Geniušas will take the stage with a distinctive program that combines improvisation with works from the Romantic period and compositions of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Over the past fifteen years, “Black and White” has become one of the most anticipated events of Culture Night—an open stage for emerging talents and a memorable experience for audiences. Every year, music lovers fill Lukiškės Square, where the sound of the piano becomes an inseparable part of Vilnius’s summer-night cultural landscape.
