Legends of Violin | Barbora Valiukevičiūtė-Žeižytė

In her solo concerts, violinist Barbora Valiukevičiūtė-Žeižytė combines high-level performance with a lively narrative about the instrument itself. The musician plays a historic Ferdinando Alberti violin (Milan, ca. 1760), whose rich and resonant tone is an integral part of her solo performances.

In this concert, the violin is revealed as an instrument that has evolved over the centuries, with its technical and artistic possibilities shaped by different eras. The works of Johann Sebastian Bach, Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber, Niccolò Paganini, Eugène Ysaÿe, and other composers—highlight the evolution of the violin’s “language,” from Baroque rhetoric and polyphonic thinking to the Romantic virtuoso tradition and modern, highly personal expression. Between pieces, the performer shares insights on sound shaping, technical solutions, and how the instrument itself shapes musical thinking.

Praised for the clarity of her tone, her structural sensitivity, and her narrative connection with the audience, Barbora invites listeners to a living encounter with the violin—not as a historical artifact, but as an instrument that is constantly evolving over time.

Her extensive international concert experience—performances in Europe, Italy, Japan, and the United States—allows her to speak about the violin not only as a performer but also as its daily companion, who knows the instrument from the inside out.
