Aurelija Zaburaitė, a young generation artist, on the exhibition:
“The blazing sun rises high, its rays piercing right through the earth’s surface. Silhouettes and creatures, melting from the heat, emerge in its light. The figures and portraits are ephemeral; under the influence of the heat, they fade to mere outlines or etch themselves into the landscape as dark spots. Their gaze also vanishes—all that remains are dots, submerged in the whole and dried out by the sun. The landscape itself, as if scorched by the sun, empties out; only the traces of human activity remain, along with a few indistinct objects scattered about. The colors of nature distort and begin to melt in the apocalyptic light. Perhaps this is just a mirage, images blurring in a field of vision affected by the sun’s glare? Perhaps these are dreams evoked by the desert of eternal wandering? Nothing useful remains in the sand dunes and wastelands, yet a refreshing spring suddenly glimmers like an oasis.”
