Concert SACRED HEART

The Vilnius Sacred Music Choir “Adoramus” presents a special evening at St. Catherine’s Church, featuring exclusive works of contemporary sacred music closely connected to Vilnius.

As Vilnius hosts the World Apostolic Congress on Mercy in June, this programme contemplates the topic of mercy. At its heart lies the motif of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, inseparable from the history of Vilnius and a source of inspiration for art, music, and architecture for centuries. Today, this symbol finds new expression in the works of contemporary composers, exploring themes of closeness, hope, peace, and the human inner journey.

The programme includes Ola Gjeilo’s Sacred Heart, Arvo Pärt’s Salve Regina, Pēteris Vasks’ The Fruit of Silence, and others. A special highlight of the evening is the recently premiered cantata Ignis Loyal (Ištikima ugnis) by Dr. Imantas Jonas Šimkus and Artūras Valionis, dedicated to St. Ignatius of Loyola.

Hear Vilnius resounding with mercy.
