Rarely performed music often hides exceptional discoveries. This concert brings together one of Lithuania’s most prominent violinists, Dalia Dėdinskaitė, and internationally acclaimed Swedish pianist Martin Sturfält, presenting a program where Litvak memory, Swedish Romanticism, and contemporary Baltic musical sensitivity meet.
Joseph Achron’s Sonata No. 2 and Wilhelm Stenhammar’s Sonata will be performed in Lithuania for the first time. These are two different yet compelling works for violin and piano. Achron’s sonata intertwines virtuosity, emotional tension, and a vivid sense of inner drama — music that demands not only technical mastery from the performers but also intense ensemble concentration. Stenhammar’s sonata opens up another world: a broad romantic flow, transparent lyricism, and a restrained yet deep emotional breathing characteristic of Swedish music.
The program will be complemented by “Little Summer Music” by the world-renowned Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks, dedicated to the author’s 80th anniversary. It is a bright, meditative piece, full of inspirations from nature, silence, and inner peace.
