The Sounding M. K. Čiurlionis Vilnius | AURĒLIJA ŠIMKUS

In the summer, the ongoing concert series “The Sounding Čiurlionis Vilnius” returns to the M. K. Čiurlionis House.

The opening concert of the summer cycle features Latvian pianist Aurēlija Šimkus. In 2016, she received the prestigious German music award Echo Klassik in the category “Young Artist of the Year.” She has also been awarded scholarships from internationally renowned institutions such as the Orpheum Foundation and the Mozart-Gesellschaft Dortmund.

As a soloist, Aurēlija Šimkus has performed with ensembles including the English Chamber Orchestra, Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, chamber orchestra Sinfonietta Rīga, Kaunas Philharmonic Orchestra, Warsaw Symphony Orchestra, Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra, and the State Philharmonic Orchestra of Rhineland-Palatinate, among others.

She has been invited to numerous international festivals and concert series such as Interlaken Classics, Next Generation Festival, Puplinge Classique, Kissinger Sommer, Kurt Weill Festival, Schumann Festival, and “Meister von Morgen” concerts in Herdecke.

Her performances have taken place in prestigious venues including Tonhalle Zürich, Konzerthaus Dortmund, Stadthalle Bayreuth, and Rheingoldhalle Mainz, among many others.

Doors open 20 minutes before the concert.
No advance registration required.
Late arrivals will not be admitted once the concert has started.
