The Saturday concert of the international Vilnius Mama Jazz festival is worth special attention.
Rabih Abou-Khalil Group (LB, PL, US)
Breaking down cultural barriers – would be the best definition of the cosmopolitan music by Rabih Abou-Khalil. Traditional Arab music intertwines with the freedom of jazz and the elegance of classical music. Various cultural elements and combinations emerge as something authentic and deeply emotional.
The master of the Arabic oud will join a group on the Vilnius Mama Jazz stage, alongside Jarrod Cagwin – an ambassador of drumming techniques, jazz violinist Mateusz Smoczyński, and cellist Krzysztof Lenczowski.
Petter Eldh Post Koma (DE, NO, SE)
Avant-garde music makers changing the jazz landscape. The collective, which has brought together huge creative potential and the most promising names of the European avant-garde scene: Petter Eldh, one of the most prominent double bass players on the Swedish jazz scene, percussion ace Christian Lillinger, the Swedish-Finnish saxophone masters Otis Sandsjö, Jonas Kullhammar and the unique vocalist Sofia Jernberg.
The post-jazz collective will take the Vilnius Mama Jazz stage with a clear mission – to awaken the audience from the coma it has fallen into after yet another encounter with traditional jazz.
