SACRED MUSIC HOURS. A GIFT FROM BERLIN

Soloist SALOMĖJA PETRONYTĖ (soprano)
Chamber Orchestra
DA PONTE BERLIN (Germany)
Artistic Director and Conductor
TASSILO KAISER (Germany)

At St Casimir’s Church – a musical gift from Berlin. Right before your eyes, it will be unpacked by the Da Ponte Berlin chamber orchestra, together with soprano Salomėja Petronytė, inviting you to admire baroque elaborateness, classical elegance and the clarity of elegiac melodies.

The orchestra chose its name quite deliberately – in Italian “da ponte” means “from the bridge”. This is a collective that combines different experiences, people and traditions through music. Extending a bridge to Vilnius, on the stage this evening it will meet with Salomėja Petronytė.

A soprano of the young generation, she stands out not just for her subtle musicality but also her bold relationship with contemporary music: she debuted in a main role in Bronius Kutavičius’ opera Strazdas – žalias paukštis (The Thrush – a Green Bird), touring Europe, America and Australia, and initiating a number of premieres.

And at this concert, having united their talents, the performers will be extending a bridge straight to your hearts.

Programme features music by Antonio Vivaldi, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Edvard Grieg and others
