VIENUDU live + Agnė Matulevičiūtė and Marta Finkelštein
This year, Vilnius City Dance Theatre “Low Air” celebrates its 15th anniversary of creative activity and invites everyone to celebrate together.
On August 20, audiences will have the opportunity to see a special performance of the dance piece “Vienudu”, created by idea and concept author Airida Gudaitė and co-creators Laurynas Žakevičius and Rokas Šaltenis. The music will be performed live by composer and electronic music creator Agnė Matulevičiūtė and pianist, performer and music curator Marta Finkelštein.
One evening, two duets – a unique artistic experience
For one evening only, two worlds – dance and live music – will meet at the Sapieha Palace, with two duets appearing on stage. The breakdance movements of the dancers’ tandem – Laurynas Žakevičius and Rokas Šaltenis – will merge with the live musical fabric created by the duo of Agnė Matulevičiūtė and Marta Finkelštein. All of this will blend into the historic architectural space of the Baroque era, creating a diverse and unique artistic experience.
Composer Agnė Matulevičiūtė and pianist Marta Finkelštein have been creating together since 2021, when they found a connection by combining the sounds of the piano and analogue/modular synthesizers. A duo with no equivalent in Lithuania in terms of its composition, they reveal the diverse possibilities of contemporary expression by combining acoustic and electronic music elements, while focusing on the expressive possibilities of keyboard instruments.
The dance performance “Vienudu” is an artistic exploration of the identity canons of hip-hop dance, inviting audiences to explore breakdance as an art form. The duet of dancers Laurynas Žakevičius and Rokas Šaltenis is constructed as a dialogue with another, although essentially with oneself. By exploring the movements and flow of breakdance, while also comparing them with Lithuanian folk dance, the performers seek a physical, tangible form through which the identity of the male dancer can unfold.
This evening will launch the “Low Air 15” series of events – a celebration of fifteen years of creative activity. It is an invitation to look back at the journey of theatre co-founders Airida Gudaitė and Laurynas Žakevičius, the entire team and the community they have brought together, through which the language of urban dance has become an important and inseparable part of contemporary performing arts in Lithuania.
The partner of the event “VIENUDU live + Agnė Matulevičiūtė and Marta Finkelštein” is Sapieha Palace.
