VeloCX International CX Race – Day 1/Day2

On 17–18 October, the Žirmūnai beach meadow in Vilnius (Neries st.) hosts the VeloCX International CX Race – a two-day international cyclocross event on the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) calendar, category C2. Riders from Lithuania and abroad will race for international UCI points.

Cyclocross is the autumn and winter discipline of cycling: short closed circuits combining sand, mud, tight corners, stairs and barriers that force riders to shoulder the bike and run. Because the circuit is short, spectators can follow almost the entire course from one spot and see the field come past every few minutes – it is one of the most watchable forms of bike racing.

Each day is a separate race with its own winners. Alongside the UCI programme for elite and junior men and women, there are amateur and children’s races, so anyone can try cyclocross regardless of experience. Entry is free for spectators and the event is family-friendly.

The organiser is VeloCX (VšĮ „Dviračių kroso CX federacija”), which has run Lithuania’s national cyclocross series „Mastering the Mud” since 2021. The event is held under the patronage of the Vilnius City Municipality.
