On October 21 at 7:00 p.m., the Lithuanian Musicians’ Union Music Salon will launch a new concert series for emerging performers, Towards the Grand Stage.
The initiative aims to provide aspiring professional musicians with opportunities to gain valuable stage experience, develop their artistic independence, and build a connection with their audiences.
The inaugural concert will feature eight pianists from the Music Academy of Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas: Kamilė Palekauskaitė, Domas Smirnovas, Shuyuan Liu, Austėja Skorochodovaitė, Xichen Wang, Gustė Gedvilaitė, Wenxuan Zhao, and Matas Stabingis. The young musicians study under Professor Donaldas Račys and Lecturer Julija Sadaunykaitė. Julija Sadaunykaitė will also oversee the artistic direction and continuity of the new concert series.
Each young pianist is a distinctive musical personality still in the process of artistic development, exploring their own relationship with the music they perform and searching for an individual interpretation and sound. The concert will offer audiences an opportunity to discover how different performers approach and interpret piano music from various historical periods.
The programme will feature works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Frédéric Chopin, Franz Liszt, and Claude Debussy. From Baroque polyphony and Romantic expressiveness to the delicate colours of Impressionism, the programme will reveal the piano’s rich expressive possibilities
