“Looking at Ramūnas Danisevičius’s photographs, you experience a strange feeling – as if you had arrived late at the cinema. The film has already begun; something has happened on the screen before you entered the auditorium, and what we see is merely a single, frozen frame from a longer story. We do not know what came before it or what will happen a few seconds later. And that is precisely why the imagination begins to create the film itself.
R. Danisevičius erases the coordinates of time and place in his photographs. For the viewer, what matters is not so much where and when a photograph was taken, but what happened in it. And this is where photography comes closest to cinema. In cinema, the director tries to create reality, whereas the photographer seems to search within reality for a situation that looks as if it had been created.”
