One of the world’s leading accordion virtuosos, Martynas Levickis, presents a solo programme at the XIV International M. K. Čiurlionis Music Festival. The concert brings together works by W. A. Mozart, G. Mahler, A. Piazzolla, F. Chopin and Ph. Glass, alongside Levickis’ own arrangements of Lithuanian folk songs.
His musical journey began in the Lithuanian countryside, where, as a child, he explored the sounds of nature on a toy accordion. He later studied at the Royal Academy of Music in London with Prof. Owen Murray and at Musikene in San Sebastián with Prof. Iñaki Alberdi.
Now based in Germany, Levickis performs internationally at venues including Royal Albert Hall, the Elbphilharmonie and Konzerthaus Berlin. He has appeared at major festivals such as Rheingau Musik Festival and Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, where he was Artist in Residence in 2023. In 2025, he was named Fokus Artist at the Rheingau Musik Festival.
Levickis has received more than 30 international awards, including the Coupe Mondiale (2010) and the Opus Klassik Instrumentalist of the Year award (2023).
