Loreta Zdanavičienė: “Bridges of the Full Moon”
About event

Loreta Zdanavičienė’s work is deeply personal and intimate, filled with symbols and metaphors from her inner world and a longing for the distant past. Two distinct directions emerge in the artist’s work. In one, the boundary between abstraction and a generalised motif almost disappears, as images gradually emerge from textures, subtle and vivid colour nuances, and carefully controlled tones. In the other, realistically painted or embroidered objects carry clear symbolic meaning. The artist often incorporates fabrics, embroidery and textile scraps into her work, painting over them and preserving examples and traditions of historic textiles as if in a kind of memory “secret”.

“Bridges of the Full Moon” is an emotionally intense installation combining paintings, collages and objects with a sound experience. It invites visitors to pause and listen to the quiet experiences of memory, loss and creativity being reborn. Here, the full moon symbolically builds bridges between past and present, personal experience and collective memory, what has already been and what is still taking shape.

The exhibition creates an intimate dialogue between the artist and her deceased parents, her childhood and reflections of the past. The artist sees this exhibition as a ritual – a way of preserving what has been lost or is often overlooked: small, sentimental objects that hold an entire world of life within them.
