“The Sea Starts Here”: Documentary Screening and Meeting with the Director
About event

This autumn, we are launching a series of documentary film screenings and meetings with their creators at the Antakalnis Eldership Hall. On October 14, Wednesday, at 18:30, we invite you to see Agnė Marcinkevičiūtė’s latest documentary film “The Sea Starts Here” (2026, 90 min.) and meet the film’s director.

The film tells the story of a nine-month journey on foot around the Baltic Sea.

The expedition “Save The Baltic Sea” began in March 2024 and crossed eight countries, covering 6,000 kilometres on foot. Its aim was to draw public attention to the pollution of the Baltic Sea and its bleak future prospects. According to expedition initiator and leader Giedrius Bučas, there is still hope of stopping this process, and if we all take action here and now, the sea could recover within several decades.

October 28, at 18:30 – documentary film “Walls That Speak” (77 min.), dedicated to Lithuanian Freedom Prize laureate and chronicler of Vilnius University Albinas Kentra. Directors Oleksandr Dirdovskyi and Agnė Marcinkevičiūtė will attend.

November 11, at 18:30 – an evening dedicated to director Ramunė Rakauskaitė. Her latest film “Such a Village in America” is planned to be screened.

The events are organised by the “Antakalniečių bendruomenė” Association and VšĮ “Meno arena”.

The events are supported by the Vilnius City Municipality and Antakalnis Eldership.
