Park Sound at Europos Parkas: Opening of Paul Deven’s Artwork and Interdisciplinary Concert-Performance
About event

Europos Parkas presents Un/shield, a site-specific acoustic artwork created by Dutch artist Paul Devens. This new piece is part of the exhibition Park Sound at Europos Parkas, curated by Karen Vanhercke. The presentation of the artwork will be accompanied by a live performance that bridges sound and visual art. Visitors to the open-air museum are invited to experience how sound and sculpture merge with the vibrant autumn landscape.

Paul Devens’ piece allows visitors to explore how the live sounds of the park are digitally transformed and blended with authentic echoes recorded inside World War II bunkers. The effect is best experienced using headphones connected to your phone.

Set within an atmosphere of deep listening, visitors will also experience a live concert-performance curated by composer Vykintas Baltakas together with LENsemble / Lithuanian Ensemble Network. The performance features four longtime friends: drummer Pranas Germanavičius, double bassist Aistis Kondratas, guitarist Saulius Kairaitis, and vocalist Elija Kuniskytė. Having played together since their high school band days, the musicians’ deep mutual trust will resonate with the audience during their live improvisation. Artist Dovilė Martinaitytė will also join the musical fabric live, using her expressive painting to interact with the music, visually capturing the generated energy and its shifting layers.

The project is funded by the Lithuanian Council for Culture.
