On the evening of November 27, Downtown Piano Lab will be filled with elegant swing rhythms, French romance and the vibrant energy of live improvisation. The quartet Swingin’ Pines will present its programme Midnight in Paris, taking listeners on a journey through the Parisian night – its cosy cafés, bustling little streets and music-filled clubs.
The concert brings together the expressive vocals of Gabija Baužaitė, the virtuoso accordion playing of Nerijus Bakula, the guitar of Aidas Tamulevičius and the rich sound of Aistis Kondratas’s double bass. The musical dialogue between the four performers promises not only subtle romance, but also spirited rhythms, unexpected improvisations and the pure joy of live performance.
The evening’s programme will feature music inspired by Django Reinhardt and other gypsy jazz masters, classics of traditional swing, and contemporary interpretations of songs from the repertoires of Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Prima, Cyrille Aimée, Pink Martini and other artists. Melodies from different eras and cultures will be brought together through the quartet’s distinctive style, giving familiar music a fresh sound.
This evening is for those who long for an intimate connection with performers, refined European jazz and music that can instantly transform the mood.
