We invite you to visit the international illustration exhibition “The Suitcase of Stories”!
The exhibition features works by 28 illustrators from eight countries: Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Finland and Sweden. These illustrations have appeared in children’s books recently published in these countries.
The exhibition’s title was inspired by an illustration by Latvian artist Anete Melece, in which a cheerful yellow suitcase sets off on all kinds of adventures. You will also discover many other colourful illustrations and the stories they tell.
Did you know that a story can be told not only with words, but also through images? We invite you to explore the illustrations, embark on an imaginative journey and discover the stories they tell you. An audio guide will help you get to know nine of the exhibition’s illustrations and their stories in greater detail. You can listen to the recordings by scanning the QR codes next to the illustrations.
The exhibition opening will take place in the 5th-floor atrium of the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania on November 12 at 18:00. The opening event will be attended by exhibition curator Ulla Saar and illustrators from Denmark and Lithuania.
Families with children aged 6–10 are invited to take part in educational activities accompanying the “The Suitcase of Stories” exhibition.
During the opening, join creative workshops led by the illustrators. On Saturday and Sunday, discover even more events and activities for the whole family as part of the exhibition opening weekend!
