H-Blockx to Perform in Vilnius: From ’90s Hits to a New Chapter for the Band

One of Germany’s most prominent alternative rock and metal bands of the 1990s, H-Blockx, is coming to Lithuania. “Risin’ High”, “Move”, “Little Girl” and other songs from the band’s catalogue will be heard live in Vilnius on March 9, when H-Blockx take the stage at Kablys. But the band are not coming to Lithuania on nostalgia alone – this year, after a fourteen-year break, H-Blockx released a new album, “Fillin_the_Blank”, which reached No. 3 on the German Albums Chart.

The story of H-Blockx began in Münster in the early 1990s, with the band making their major breakthrough in 1994 following the release of their debut album, “Time to Move”. Blending alternative rock and metal with elements of rap, H-Blockx developed a sound that became a distinctive part of the era’s heavier alternative music scene, while the videos for “Risin’ High” and “Move” made it onto MTV.

“Time to Move” remained on the German Albums Chart for an impressive 62 weeks and sold more than 750,000 copies worldwide. In 1995, H-Blockx were nominated for Best Breakthrough Artist at the MTV Europe Music Awards. Over more than three decades, the band have released numerous albums, toured extensively across Europe and established themselves as a recognised name on Germany’s alternative metal and rap metal scene.

But today’s H-Blockx have no intention of living solely on their ’90s legacy. In 2024, the band embarked on a 30th-anniversary tour celebrating their debut album “Time to Move”, and revisiting those early songs became the catalyst for new music.

“That was when it became clear to me what a new H-Blockx album needed to sound like: we had to go back to our own DNA, to our core,” says the band’s drummer and producer Steddy.

The result was “Fillin_the_Blank”, released on March 6, 2026 – the band’s first studio album in fourteen years. On the record, H-Blockx return to the sound that became their trademark: powerful guitar riffs, a fusion of rock, metal and rap, and instantly memorable choruses. The album reached No. 3 on the German Albums Chart – the highest chart position of the band’s career.

The album opens with “Straight_Outta_Nowhere”, a song whose title also aptly captures the band’s own return. “Just like when we made our debut and seemed to come out of nowhere, we feel exactly the same way now. Maybe after so many quiet years, people don’t expect much from the band anymore. But to us, everything feels just as intense as it did in the very beginning,” says H-Blockx vocalist Henning Wehland.

More than three decades after “Time to Move”, H-Blockx are taking the stage with new music while retaining the energy that defined the band from the start. Lithuanian audiences will get to experience that same energy live on March 9 at Kablys in Vilnius.
