On December 13, 2026, at 13:00, St. Catherine’s Church in Vilnius will host a concert for children filled with the joy of life. Surrounded by a festive atmosphere, young listeners and their parents are invited to join singing actor Andrius Kaniava on a musical adventure through the world of theatre.
A. Kaniava has spent many years performing in musical productions, writing numerous songs for them and creating memorable characters that children who have since grown up – but never grown old at heart – still love and remember. A few years ago, the actor and his fellow performers delighted audiences with theatrical concerts titled Grandparents Were Young Once. He later created the family musical Escape from Trepsė’s House, based on J. Avyžius’s novella The Eight from Trepsė’s House. In this production, he brought puppets to life and told the lively, touching story of a puppet adventure away from the home of the unkind girl Trepsė, without ever talking down to young audiences.
During this special encounter, A. Kaniava will invite audiences on a somewhat different, yet equally fascinating musical journey, full of surprises and adventures. Along the way, they will meet pirates roaming the seas, Lucky Hans, Trepsė and her escape story, slightly scary Robbers, and other characters who live on through songs from theatrical productions.
For the youngest audience members, this journey is sure to be breathtaking and full of surprises, while adults will be transported to that beautiful land where “grandparents are young and parents are like children”.
