Visit the Liepkalnis Water Reservoir for free on the last Sunday of the month!
Visitors can enjoy free guided tours of the water reservoir, which is 5 meters deep and features impressive acoustics.
The Liepkalnis Water Reservoir is one of the most interesting underground structures in Vilnius. Built in 1916 under the hill, this century-old water reservoir belongs to the largest water management company in Lithuania, “Vilniaus vandenys,” and is distinguished by its unique construction and acoustics – echoes inside it repeat 5 to 6 times.
The reservoir was in use until 1987. Until recently, this strategic part of the city’s water supply system was closed and protected, but since July 2023 it has been opened to the public. The Energy and Technology Museum organizes tours here, and the new space is open for concerts, cinema, and art – its impressive acoustics and green outdoor area will eventually become a new event center.
