M. K. Sarbiewski. Performative Readings. Baroque Improvisations from Jazz to Slam

Pijus Opera (reader) – performer, songwriter, poet
Vitalij Neugasimov (keyboards) – pianist, organist, harpsichordist, also engaged in improvisation, solo singing, and composition
Arkadij Gotesman (percussion) – percussionist, performer of avant-garde jazz and contemporary music

In celebration of Motiejus Kazimieras Sarbievijus and the Year of Baroque Literature, the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania invites you to a series of free Baroque literature readings – with a twist.

The aim of these performative readings is to bridge the Baroque tradition with modern expression. The performers will craft a new sound, blending jazz with elements of early music, and presenting Baroque poetry in a way that sometimes makes it feel like it was written today.

This fusion of two eras reveals fresh tones in M. K. Sarbiewski’s texts, and we’re excited to share them with everyone open to new experiences.

If the weather is good, the event will take place in the Grand Courtyard of the Palace of the Grand Dukes.

Admission is free, but advance registration is required:http://registracija.valdovurumai.lt/atj5qlok
