Creative Workshop “The Face of the Monster” – May 10, Saturday, 3:00 PM. Led by artist-researcher Ieva Baltrėnaitė-Markevičė. This workshop is part of the educational program accompanying Eva Koťátková’s exhibition “Interview with a Monster.”
In the exhibition, the monster embodies learned anxiety and irrational fears—barriers to connection with others, justifications for negative personal experiences and future decisions. During the workshop, we will aim to visualize anxiety, give shape to feelings, and create together using artistic research methods.
We will begin by visiting the exhibition to explore Koťátková’s world, where the monster symbolizes fears and social constraints deeply rooted in our thinking. Afterward, using quick-setting materials, we will create three-dimensional textile objects—monster heads, expressions of emotions, and representations of ourselves or others. These creations will be given emotions—faces representing states of mind that are difficult to express in words.
No special preparation or artistic background is required to participate. The workshop is open to everyone, with no age or other restrictions.
Participation is free, but registration is required: https://forms.gle/PtSL3Stq3We8JJh96
