Janina Sabaliauskaitė’s photography exhibition “Pleasure”

Janina Sabaliauskaitė’s photography exhibition Pleasure invites viewers to reconsider notions of intimacy, corporeality, and sexuality by centering often-invisible individuals—people living with disabilities.

At the heart of the exhibition are vivid, intimate, and powerful portraits capturing desire, self-love, connection, challenges, and dreams. Created using analog photography, the series is rooted in collaboration, dialogue, and mutual trust between the artist and her subjects. Pleasure challenges prevailing societal narratives that deny the sexuality of disabled people, presenting their experiences as equally diverse, joyful, and profound. Sabaliauskaitė’s work embraces complexity and rejects normative expectations, making space for all bodies and expressions of pleasure. Through a queer feminist lens, the artist explores empowerment, dignity, rebellion, and the freedom to desire. This exhibition becomes a safe, accessible cultural space that celebrates differences and acknowledges the importance of visibility, intimacy, and autonomy. The featured images open a dialogue on how we can build inclusive, affirming environments where diverse identities and forms of intimacy are not only accepted but embraced.
