IntraOp(era) “Little Lamb with Glass Horns” invites you to travel inside the human body

IntraOpera “The Little Lamb with Glass Horns” by composer and researcher Snieguolė Dikčiūtė, written by writer and surgeon Gaspar Aleksa, invites you to immerse yourself in an interdisciplinary world of music, word, movement, sound objects and visual play.

The audience will become participants, travelling through the imaginary interior of the human body. In a building that will become a model of the human body, they will travel through four musical spaces that recreate four aspects of the human body and psyche. In this way, they will have the opportunity to hear, see and experience the human body through physical, emotional, thinking-cognitive and social prisms. At the same time, the biological parameters of the heart, circulation and thinking will be explored.

Fifty years ago, surgeon and writer G. Alexa was tormented by his dream of going inside the human body. Thus was born the futuristic, fictional novel about homonautics, “The Little Lamb with Glass Horns” (Vaga, 2003). A person, enclosed in a special space, can shrink to the size of a few angstroms by becoming a homonaut (homo (Latin for man; nauta (Latin for sailor)) and travel through the rivers of arteries and veins of another person’s body, going inside the cells and neurons of organs. Even in such an advanced society, brain function is not amenable to reproduction. The heroes, each in their own way, try to escape reality through a world of fantasy. IntraOpera focuses on human physiology, mental functions and emotions in the modern and futuristic world. These motifs are carried over into the plot of IntraOpera. The musical fabric of the IntraOpera will be created by various instruments: harp, trombones, kanklės, homophones, sounds from medical devices and tools, and the rustling of paper of different textures. Human voices and the sounds of the heart and blood vessels will be added to this background. The cardiogram, broadcast in real time, will become a musical score. The musical grid will be complemented by images created with video projectors and graph projectors.
Well-known artists, creators and people with disabilities will meet on stage as equal creators. S. Dikčiūtė, a contemporary music composer, has created a post-modern opera with the aim not only to create an artistic synthesis of sound, image and movement, but also to enable the authentic artistic expression of people with individual needs. IntraOpera will be punctuated by 4 reality stops where people with different experiences will share their stories.
